In what can be seen as a significant legal resolution, three law firms have just been granted a $1.5 million attorneys’ fee award in relation to a solar settlement associated with Tesla, which totalled $6 million. This award forms part of a larger settlement, which Judge Vince Chhabria of the U.S District Court for the Northern District of California officially granted last March 8.
The firms that will profit from this reward are Edelson PC, Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy LLP, and Miller Law Firm PC. These firms were hired to advocate for a group of plaintiffs who had raised allegations against Tesla of employing bait-and-switch pricing strategies when selling their line of solar roof tiles.

The $6.08 million settlement includes all individuals who had entered a contract with Tesla to buy and/or install a solar roof and were informed in April 2021 about a price increase. The preliminary approval of the settlement by Judge Chhabria was reported back on October 23. The final and official approval this March effectively closes this case loosely related to the renewable energy sector.
