O’Melveny & Myers Seeks Financial Turnaround Following 2023 Revenue Dip

Renowned law firm, O’Melveny & Myers, navigates a challenging period after experiencing a revenue dip of 3.6% in 2023. This comes after a period of considerable growth for the firm, which had aggressively onboarded 46 lateral partners between 2021 and 2022. During this phase, the firm’s gross revenue inflated by an impressive 12.4% in 2022.

However, the firm’s financial performance trotted downward in 2023. Despite continuing to increase their headcount, the decision contributed to a 4.8% decline in Revenue Per Lawyer (RPL), with Profit Per Equity Partner (PEP) also recording a marginal fall of 0.5%.

Nonetheless, O’Melveny & Myers optimistically approaches 2024, armed with a 20% higher inventory compared to March of the previous year, indicating a potential for a robust financial turnaround.
