Brazilian Mining Disaster: Pogust Goodhead Pursues £3 Billion Restitution in Dutch Court

International litigation firm, Pogust Goodhead, is continuing its campaign for damages on behalf of victims of a Brazilian mining accident. Its efforts have now reached a court in the Netherlands, with the assistance of Dutch litigation firm, Lemstra Van der Korst. More details available here.

The lawsuit has been filed against the Brazilian mining conglomerate, Vale, and its Dutch subsidiary. The claimants are seeking £3 billion for seven Brazilian municipalities, nearly 1,000 businesses, and over 77,000 individuals who were negatively impacted by the incident at the Samarco iron ore complex.

In their joint pursuit for restitution, Pogust Goodhead and Lemstra Van der Korst hope to secure this amount from both Vale and the Dutch subsidiary of its Samarco JV with Australia’s BHP.
