Noted law firm Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe witnessed a significant 6.2% rise in its revenue for the fiscal year 2023. However, the profits per equity partner remained stagnant, which can be attributed to an aggressive lateral partner hiring spree and an early year merger with Buckley, a financial services firm based out of Washington, D.C. These strategic moves led to an increase of 13.8% in the firm’s equity partnership.
Orrick Chair Mitch Zuklie lauded the firm’s performance for 2023, stating it was a “very strong year in terms of client results, financial performance and strategic investments”. He specifically pointed to the firm’s robust international performance, particularly from its London office and mentioned a significant amount of cross-border work from China, where Orrick operates offices in Beijing and Shanghai.
