As recently announced by the university, Stanford Law School has appointed George Triantis, the Charles J. Meyers Professor of Law and Business, as its new dean. He replaces the interim dean, Paul Brest, who took the temporary position on January 1.
Brest had stepped into the role after the departure of the previous interim dean, Robert Weisberg. Weisberg held the position for three months but left due to health reasons.
Currently, Triantis is also serving as a senior associate vice provost for research at Stanford University. His appointment as the law school dean is seen as beneficial to the institution based on his prior experience, integrity, and collaborative style of leadership. Notably, these qualities were highlighted by Jenny Martinez, Stanford provost and a former law dean, who spoke about the positive impacts his leadership is expected to have on the school’s students, faculty, staff, and the university’s senior leadership team.
