Annual Law Revue Video Contest Returns: Entertain, Compete, and Win with Above the Law

With the spring season upon us, Above the Law is once again launching its annual Law Revue Video Contest. Entering this competition could win you not only Above the Law prizes, but also enviable status among your law school peers. Even those who don’t come out on top will experience total exoneration, with another chance to triumph next year.

How can you enter? If you possess comedic or musical talent, send your best law revue videos to the Above the Law team and let your work be judged by their audience. To ensure fairness in the contest and adhering to the professional principles of the legal community, the competition has set certain rules.

  1. All entries must be publicly accessible online. Send your link to tips@abovethelaw.com with the subject line “Law Revue Video Contest Submission – [School Name]”.
The contest accepts videos posted after April 28, 2023.
  2. The primary performers of the video must come from within the law school community. Cameos from outside the community are accepted but don’t stretch the definition of “primary performer”—a violation will be called out when seen.
  3. Submit your entry by April 26, 5:00 P.M., Eastern time. This is a strict deadline with absolutely no exceptions.
  4. The editors at Above the Law will compile a list of their favorite entries and declare them as the competition finalists.
  5. The maximum length for a video is 5 minutes, prompting participants to use editing tools wisely.
  6. Each school is allowed to submit a maximum of two entries. It would be preferable if participants collaborated with other students and submitted just one entry per institution.
  7. Above the Law readers will vote to choose the funniest video from the shortlisted finalists, who will then receive the grand prizes.

There are also some unofficial guidelines:

  • Only funny videos are welcomed.
  • Your video, if it exhausts the full five-minute limit, should be exceptionally hilarious to hold the viewer’s attention.
  • Showers of praise for Above the Law in your video are encouraged.
  • Your video quality is important. A badly shot clip won’t do you any favors.
  • Avoid creating content to incur displeasure or offence.

Get creative and may the odds be in your favor as the competition promises to be rigorous. For more details, check out the full article from Above the Law.
