Trump-Linked Lawyers Face Disciplinary Measures Over Election Efforts

Two prominent lawyers associated with the Trump administration, John Eastman and Jeffrey Clark, are facing disciplinary measures from State Bar Associations due to their involvement in former President Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 Presidential election.

John Eastman, who acted as an attorney for former President Trump and his re-election campaign, has been put on “involuntary inactive status” by the State Bar of California after a 128-page ruling by Judge Yvette Roland. The ruling was theatrical, comparing Eastman’s actions to those of Donald Segretti, a lawyer implicated in the Watergate scandal who was subsequently disbarred for two years.

Additionally, Eastman was forbidden from representing prominent Republicans Reps. Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene in their lawsuits against the cities of Anaheim and Riverdale.

Meanwhile, on the East Coast, Jeff Clark, former Trump DOJ official, was interrogated by Hamilton Fox, Disciplinary Counsel for the D.C. Bar. Clark had made various unsuccessful attempts to avoid disciplinary action, even trying to remove his case to federal court. As per a Politico report, Clark asserted his Fifth Amendment rights during his hearing, among other privileges, while maintaining his belief of election fraud in swing states.

Both Eastman and Clark’s actions in the aftermath of the 2020 Presidential election have put them in hot water with the legal profession and they now face potential legal and professional consequences. Further, both have been charged in a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) case in Georgia, indicating that their legal struggles are far from over.
