While artificial intelligence (AI) has become a buzzword in many industries, it is time we move beyond the hype and start incorporating it as an effective tool in the practical workings of the legal industry. As legal professionals, our focus should shift from talking about AI as the “next big thing” to demonstrating and proving its actual value in our field.
One of the challenges in doing so is distinguishing between the genuine AI technology and the fake with the onslaught of spammers and hackers who often impersonate reliable digital service providers, as illustrated by a recent incident with FeedBlitz, a known email service. In this instance, unidentified third party was reported trying to trick users into thinking they received an authentic FeedBlitz communication, just to link them to spurious websites.
Critical thinking and stringent checks are our best defense as we incorporate AI into our work. With the right approach, we are not just embracing innovation but also doing our part in ensuring the security and integrity of our digital landscape.
In the legal profession, AI can play a crucial role. However, we must focus on actual implementations and benefits, rather than just theoretical possibilities. This approach will likely drive further acceptance and adoption of this technology.
