When large groups of lawyers embark on a mass lateral move from one firm to another, the repercussions are often wide-ranging. A notable example occurred almost a decade ago when a similar event signaled the downfall of Bingham. Another recent case saw Stroock struck by the same fate. On contrary, the mass departure from Lewis Brisbois was unsuccessful. Such moves invariably leave a significant imprint, whether or not they are as dramatic as the cases mentioned above (see for instance, Top Biglaw Firms Trade Partner Raids In Rainmaker Battle).
Above the Law has joined forces with a group of scholars at the University of Cincinnati Business School to study these mass migrations between law firms. In our pursuit to glean more insights into these events, we are seeking stories from those who have experienced them – whether you were part of a collective of partners switching firms, or witnessed a gradual series of departures from one firm to another, your stories matter.
