Above The Law’s 15th Annual Law Revue Video Contest is now accepting submissions. With spring in full bloom, this much anticipated event is a prominent feature in the legal community’s social calendar.
Legal-firm members and students alike are encouraged to submit their finest, most entertaining law revue videos for review. The incentive goes beyond mere bragging rights. Winners can look forward to Above the Law prizes and the satisfaction of having impressed their legal peers.
But before flooding the inbox with submissions, it would be well to familiarize oneself with the contest guidelines which are stringent in ensuring fairness in this much-coveted competition. Entries must be publicly available online and submissions are limited to two videos per school.
Most notably, the competition runs on a hard deadline. All videos must be submitted by FRIDAY, APRIL 26, at 5:00 P.M. (Eastern time). This is non-negotiable and no exceptions will be made. The video duration must not exceed 5 minutes for the review team will not be watching any videos longer than that.
Once submissions have been meticulously examined, the Above the Law editors will put forth their selection of favourites to be the competition finalists. These will be available for public viewing. ATL readers will then vote to choose the funniest among the finalists.
Apart from all the legal formalities, there are a few unofficial guidelines that successful entrants would do well to note: Humour is integral. Videos should be funny. The video quality is also a factor. The use of professional cameras and equipment may differentiate the good entries from the great. After all, nobody likes watching a shaky camera for five minutes.
With the competition promising to be fiercer than usual, luck may play a large part in who ultimately wins the day. But nonetheless, Above The Law beckons all aspiring entrants to send in their submissions and fulfill the annual ritual that is the Law Revue Video Contest.
