Asian Law Firms Excel: India Dominates Q1 M&A League Tables Amid Surge in Domestic Deals

In a recent shift within the realm of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Asian law firms are taking precedence on the global stage. As per the latest Q1 Global Mergers and Acquisitions Review by LSEG Data & Analytics, Indian law firms in particular dominated the tables in Asia for the total value of announced deals in Q1 of 2024.

Notably, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, AZ & Partner, and Khaitan & Co have emerged as the front-runners. Collectively advising on $5.4 billion, $4.7 billion, and $4.5 billion worth of announced mergers and acquisitions in Asia respectively, these three firms are playing a pivotal role in the ongoing tidal shift.

Despite partial data due to paywall restrictions, it was discerned that of the 12 largest M&A deals announced in Q1 this year, four were Greater China-based transactions, suggesting a marked increase in domestic deals within the Asian region.
