Bloomberg Law Acquires Dashboard Legal to Enhance Contract Solutions and Legal Workflow Management

Bloomberg Law, further broadening its range beyond legal research, has recently acquired Dashboard Legal, a project management platform specifically designed to cater to the needs of the legal market. This development marks a significant addition to the company’s expanding business portfolio, which began with the introduction last year of Bloomberg Law Contract Solutions, a product utilizing artificial intelligence for storing, searching, drafting, and negotiating contracts.

Established in 2020 by Mathew Rotenberg, its CEO, and Fedor Garin, its CTO, Dashboard Legal aims to streamline task tracking, document management, and team-wide collaboration. This platform effectively provides lawyers with an enhanced alternative to the general practice of updating and circulating checklists on programs like Word or Excel. The founders are enthusiastic about joining forces with Bloomberg Law, noting a potent opportunity to energize the next generation of legal workflow solutions.

  • A quick summary of the status of all ongoing legal matters for those managing legal teams, aided by visual matter reporting.
  • Real-time tracking of deadlines, task assignment, and progress visualization within each dashboard.
  • Program interfaces with Outlook and document management systems such as iManage and NetDocuments.
  • Contextual notes and integrated real-time communications tools like chats within each dashboard.

Both Rotenberg and Garin have joined Bloomberg Law’s team with Rotenberg supervising workflow product strategy and Garin concentrating on technology development.

Bloomberg Law’s roadmap includes integrating Dashboard Legal with Bloomberg Law Contract Solutions, further tying in components like Draft Analyzer, Practical Guidance, and the research and news databases from the Bloomberg Terminal. Breda and Rotenberg also envision generative AI further enhancing the workflows.

In addition to research services, Bloomberg Law is keen on developing an ecosystem that brings content and expertise closer to where users work. These additional products will be sold on a more modular basis, providing flexibility based on the type of organization accessing the services.
