In a significant move last year, Juliette Pryor, legal chief of Lowe’s Cos., received over $12.1 million in compensation, including a bonus and stock as she came on board from Albertson’s Cos. Inc.
According to this proxy filing, Pryor earned a substantial $3 million bonus paid in three installments. In addition, she received $5.6 million in stock awards, set to vest over three years.
Prior to her move to Lowe’s, Pryor served as Albertson’s top lawyer for nearly three years. Notably, she left Albertson’s in the midst of an antitrust review of its $25 billion sale to Kroger Co. Her departure led to a lawsuit by the Federal Trade Commission and several US states attorneys generals aiming to block the deal.
Currently, Pryor is handling Lowe’s legal matters as the company confronts a slowdown in customer spending and a sluggish housing market. This shift in the economic environment has even forced the corporate giant to cut a number of corporate jobs. Now, alongside its rival Home Depot Inc., Lowe’s is moving towards diversifying into professional services.
As for Pryor’s compensation at Lowe’s, her package also includes $561,000 in base salary, over $353,000 in non-equity incentive plan cash compensation, and over $251,000 in relocation benefits. In the upcoming year, her full salary will amount to $740,000.
Beyond her packages, Pryor holds $3.7 million in Albertson’s stock and Lowe’s shares valued at nearly $7 million. The path of her career started at IBM, followed by legal jobs at e.spire Communications, US Foods Holding, and Cox Enterprises.
