Liz Glazer, now a stand-up comedian, began her career in the seemingly solemn world of law. Her legal career ranged from being an associate at Fried Frank, a prominent law firm, to holding a tenured post at Hofstra Law School. However, it appears that her penchant for humor was quite evident, even in her days of teaching law.
While recalling an incident from her legal teaching career, she said, “When I was 27 and had just started the tenure track, I came out of my classroom, and another tenured professor said, ‘What are you doing in there? It sounds like a comedy club.’ I think back and wonder, ‘What jokes was I telling?”
In a cheeky commentary about her legal education, Glazer said during her interview with the ABA Journal, “I went to law school because my parents had this mentality that no one could take your education from you. I’m like, ‘Does anyone want it?'”
Indeed, the vibrancy and spontaneity of comedy has found an unusual but effective advocate in Glazer, who once walked the traditionally stern corridors of law. She continues to blend her legal knowledge and comedic talents to entertain audiences, demonstrating that humor can often be found in the unlikeliest of places; even in a courtroom.
