The recent fee dispute between two front-running law firms over the Larry Nassar case is heading for trial. The Michigan-based legal firm Lipton Law Center PC has been allowed to initiate a trial against Colorado firm Andrus Wagstaff PC based on its allegations that the latter didn’t compensate for the joint work both bodies performed while representing abuse victims of Larry Nassar. The decision was put forth by Linda V. Parker, a Judge in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, as she partly denied Wagstaff’s motion for summary judgment.
The disagreement originated from a 2018 agreement which the law firms established through email correspondence. In exchange for 5% of the attorney fees, Lipton agreed to the filing of a complaint in Michigan. The matter is still under judicial review.
