Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., the world’s largest generic drug manufacturer, has announced the appointment of David McAvoy as their new Chief Legal Officer. He takes over from David Stark, who had been with the company for over two decades. Stark decided not to comment regarding why he left Teva last year.
Before joining Teva, McAvoy held the position of General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Fresh Tracks Therapeutics Inc. His appointment at Teva was revealed in a proxy statement filed by the company on April 16, although the circumstances that led to this change in leadership remain unclear as Teva has not commented on this issue.
As reported by Bloomberg Law in the same month of the filing, Teva has often been cited among the companies adopting bolder stances in patent disputes.
This transition in Teva’s legal leadership comes following their settlement with the Department of Justice (DOJ). Further details about this matter were not released.
