In 2021, the Texas Legislature passed a bill effectively stating that specific firearm suppressors, designed to reduce gunshot noise, do not fall under federal laws. Texas Governor Greg Abbott ratified this legislation, further instructing the Texas attorney general to pursue a court order to support this motion relating to suppressors manufactured for noncommercial utilization.
Texas argued the regulations encroached on their rights and were therefore declared unconstitutional. The panel’s skepticism of these claims brings a new perspective to this case, yet the final decision is forthcoming.
