Jones Day Leads Supreme Court Arguments with Emerging Legal Talent

Jones Day, a DC-based law firm, has made headlines as five of its attorneys have taken to the US Supreme Court lectern this term, distinguishing it as the firm with the most arguments so far. A significant aspect of this achievement is that several of these attorneys are presenting their first high court cases this term, testifying to the firm’s constantly evolving talent pool.

This milestone is largely the result of the firm’s focus on recruiting former Supreme Court clerks. Among those who made their argument debuts for the firm were partners John Gore and C. Kevin Marshall. Alongside them, former US Solicitor General Noel Francisco and partners Hashim Mooppan and Traci Lovitt each argued once, all of whom, bar Gore, previously clerked for a Supreme Court justice.

Despite this notable achievement, it is important to remember that the legal field remains largely driven by seasoned attorneys. Comparatively, law firms Gibson Dunn, Hogan Lovells, and Williams & Connolly each had their attorneys argue four cases. Regardless, Jones Day’s effort to promote new attorneys to the forefront of high court cases sets a laudable precedent for-emerging legal professionals.
