As the legal industry deepened its understanding of generative AI’s potential and recognized its potential pitfalls in the summer of 2023, the need for adequate training among practitioners became strikingly apparent. Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe stood out by becoming the first law firm to pledge to train its summer associate class in generative AI.
Collaborating with legal education provider, AltaClaro, Orrick developed an innovative learning module focused on prompt engineering. The course also covered broader practical aspects and ethical concerns related to the application of such technology in legal practice. Moving forward to the summer of 2024, Orrick continues with its AI-focused program and is now preparing to offer AltaClaro’s prompt engineering and generative AI training anew at the beginning of its summer associate program.
