Sandra M. Hanna Joins Steptoe as SEC Enforcement Practice Leader, Strengthening Investigations & White-Collar Defense

Steptoe & Johnson LLP announced the appointment of Sandra M. Hanna as the head of its SEC enforcement practice. The role will position Hanna in the Washington, D.C., and New York offices according to the firm’s statement on Tuesday.

Hanna brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Her portfolio includes representing public companies, regulated entities, auditor firms, and senior executives in regulatory enforcement matters across an array of law enforcement agencies. These include the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Beyond these, Hanna has previously led SEC and DOJ appointed independent corporate monitor teams in matters of securities and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) issues.

Steptoe, an international law firm recognized for its capability in high-stakes controversies and intricate legal challenges, anticipates this strategic hire will further bolster the firm’s investigations and white-collar defense practice.
