Mark Cuban, entrepreneur and owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has made a public call for large employers, who meet their own health-care claims, to publicly disclose their health insurance and pharmaceutical contracts. According to Cuban, this transparency within the health-care industry is paramount for businesses of all sizes to understand and improve on their practices.
Cuban’s comments came during an interview that was broadcasted at a health-care price transparency conference. In his words, sharing contracts with health-plan administrators and pharmacy benefit managers is “the Number One rule to fix the industry.” He believes that if these contracts were publicized, better health-care knowledge would be facilitated among employers, an initiative that could ultimately lead to more efficient practices in the healthcare industry.
In addition to advocating for more transparency, Cuban also emphasized on the importance for employers to have better control over the pre-authorization process within their businesses.
