Kavanaugh Outpaces Fellow Justices, But Solicitor General Triumphs in Capital Challenge

In the recent ACLI Capital Challenge, an event that has inevitably drawn an array of luminaries from Washington’s top legal, political, and policy-making circles, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has proved his athletic prowess by emerging as the fastest runner among three participating justices. However, despite this benchmark, Kavanaugh was bested by the Solicitor General. The race, held in Washington’s Anacostia Park, saw Kavanaugh complete a three-mile run in 24 minutes and 20 seconds, beating the performances of his judicial cohorts, but falling short of Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar’s finish time of 22 minutes and 23 seconds.

In addition to Kavanaugh and Prelogar, Washington’s legal community was well represented at the race. Unfortunately, specifics on the placings and results of other participating luminaries are not available at this time. The regular appearance of such figures at the ACLI Capital Challenge underscores the event’s status as a significant date on Washington’s legal and social calendar.

Kavanaugh’s final time, whilst a slight deceleration from the pace he achieved at 2023’s event, was nonetheless sufficient to secure him 236th place among the 531 competitors tackling the rain-soaked route. As tradition dictates, the race brought together a wide-range of participants from capital legal institutions and sought not only to offer a test of physical endurance but underscore a sense of camaraderie and spirited competition within Washington’s legal community.
