Sullivan & Cromwell Boosts Tech Practice with Skadden M&A Partners Hire

In a firm announcement on Wednesday, Sullivan & Cromwell revealed the hiring of two mergers and acquisitions partners to strengthen its technology practice. The laterals, Mike Ringler and Peter Jones, are joining from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. “We want to continue to be the law firm of choice for the biggest M&A and technology-related transactions and litigations,” stated Sullivan & Cromwell’s co-chairs Robert Giuffra and Scott Miller.

Ringler and Jones come with a considerable portfolio, having managed significant deals in their respective tenures. Ringler was a partner at Skadden for nearly five years and even longer at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he spent more than two decades. On the other hand, Jones has been at Skadden for about six years, including the last year as a partner. Before that, he held positions at White & Case and Linklaters.

While at Skadden, Ringler and Jones led strategic deals, including advisement to Ansys over its $35 billion sale to Synopsys, and to Splunk in its $30 billion sale to Cisco Systems. The duo also guided Elon Musk in his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.

Sullivan & Cromwell, which started its Palo Alto office in 2000, has an extensive history in the tech domain, advising on deals like OpenAI’s partnership with Microsoft and SoftBank Group’s $5.23 billion IPO of Arm Holdings.
