Established law firm, Latham & Watkins, has officially announced the recruitment of Douglas Heitner as a new partner in its New York-based real estate practice. In his new role, Heitner’s responsibilities will encompass an array of tasks, primarily centered around advising clients on joint ventures, financings, investment sales and acquisitions, in addition to secondary market debt acquisitions and dispositions, as stated by the firm themselves in a
recent announcement.
Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Heitner served as the Chief Legal Officer for the New York-based real estate investment trust Safehold, which had previously been known as iStar. During his time there, he dealt with a broad spectrum of legal concerns encompassing asset-level work, securities, and the capital markets.
The addition of Heitner to Latham & Watkins adds a high-impact prism to their real estate practice, offering their clients the benefit of his extensive experience in the field.
