Warburg Pincus and Temasek Secure £1 Billion Acquisition of UK Insurance Group SRG

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Kirkland & Ellis and Eversheds Sutherland have wrapped up their legal roles in a high-profile deal between private equity firms Warburg Pincus and Temasek and the UK-based Specialist Risk Group (SRG)—a move that saw the insurance company being acquired for more than £1 billion. SRG, a specialist insurance intermediary launched in 2020 and previously backed by HCCG, a private equity group, currently has a workforce of over 600.

This acquisition is a part of a growing trend of primarily US-based private equity firms securing UK assets. A recent related development saw Swedish private equity behemoth EQT putting forward a £2.2 billion offer for London-listed video game service company Keywords Studios, with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and DLA Piper managing the legal aspects of the deal.
