Canadian Schools File Multi-Billion-Dollar Lawsuits Against Social Media Giants Meta, TikTok, and Snapchat Over Disrupted Learning

Seven more Canadian schools and boards of education have filed multi-billion-dollar lawsuits against tech giants Meta, TikTok, and Snapchat, alleging that these social media platforms disrupt student learning and the education system. The lawsuits from institutions in Ontario seek CA$2.6 billion (US$1.9 billion) in damages to address the strain on resources caused by what they argue are negligently designed, compulsive social media products that alter how children think, behave, and learn.

The latest actions follow four lawsuits initiated in March that sought CA$4.55 billion in damages for similar claims regarding social media addiction among students. For more detailed information, the original article can be accessed here.
