DLA Piper Expands New York Real Estate Practice with Addition of Two Partners

DLA Piper has announced a significant expansion of its real estate practice in New York with the addition of two new partners. Dennis Kiely and Heather Horowitz are set to join the global legal giant, bringing a wealth of experience in real estate transactions and financing.

Kiely specializes in the acquisition, financing, and development of both domestic and international real estate interests. A substantial portion of his work involves advising investors from South Korea, which underscores the firm’s strategic focus on attracting and managing international clients. According to DLA Piper, Kiely’s expertise will enhance the firm’s ability to navigate complex global real estate markets.

Heather Horowitz, on the other hand, advises investment banks, private equity funds, and other institutional lenders. Her practice focuses on the acquisition, origination, disposition, and restructuring of mortgage and mezzanine construction. Her addition to the team is expected to bolster DLA Piper’s capability in managing sophisticated financial transactions in the real estate sector.

The firm also announced another strategic hire: Alex Kaplan will be joining as of counsel in DLA Piper’s Washington office. This appointment, alongside the new partners in New York, reflects DLA Piper’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its real estate practice in key markets.
