The Dallas plaintiffs’ firm Dean Omar Branham Shirley initiated a new trial against Johnson & Johnson on Wednesday in Texas. This development comes just two days after the firm secured a $260 million verdict regarding its talcum powder in Oregon.
During the proceedings, Dean Omar associate Aaron Chapman informed the jury that his client, Jerry Newton, diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2019, was exposed to asbestos through prolonged use of Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder over four decades. The defense, represented by Johnson & Johnson attorney Collin Cox, countered by referencing the extensive research conducted over the past fifty years, asserting that there is no connection between baby powder and mesothelioma.
