In a newly filed lawsuit, Tesla shareholders allege that Elon Musk has neglected his fiduciary duties by channeling company resources into personal interest ventures such as the microblogging app X and an artificial intelligence affiliate. The 250-page complaint, lodged by the Rhode Island state employees’ retirement fund, claims that Musk’s oversight has been to the detriment of Tesla. The plaintiffs, represented by Prickett, Jones & Elliott and Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, have raised six claims against Musk and Tesla’s board members.
“Neither Musk’s past success nor his importance to Tesla’s business gives him carte blanche to treat his fiduciary duties to Tesla as optional,” the lawsuit asserts. For a detailed account of the lawsuit, readers can refer to the original article on Law.com.
