FTC Sues Adobe Over Deceptive Subscription Practices and Cancellation Hurdles

The Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit against Adobe, alleging that the software giant has contravened consumer protection laws by automatically enrolling customers into its most expensive annual subscription plans. The FTC claims that Adobe imposed onerous “stealth” cancellation fees and hurdles for those attempting to opt out of the subscriptions. Sam Levine, director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, remarked, “Americans are tired of companies hiding the ball during subscription signup and then putting up roadblocks when they try to cancel.” More details on the allegations can be read here.
