AT&T Implements $10 Monthly Price Hike on Legacy Unlimited Plans

AT&T is enforcing monthly price increases of $10 and $20 on its older unlimited wireless plans starting in August 2024, according to an announcement by the company. Single-line users will see a $10 hike, while customers with multiple lines will experience a total increase of $20 per month.

The company has offered a variety of unlimited data plans over the years, all with differing limits and perks. While these plans helped customers avoid overage fees, they often included speed limitations after hitting high-speed data caps and restrictions on hotspot usage. The coming price increases will impact most of these older plans, including AT&T Unlimited & More Premium, AT&T Unlimited Choice Enhanced, and AT&T Unlimited Plan, among others.

In an attempt to mitigate the effect of the price hike, AT&T has enhanced data allowances across different plans. For instance, the AT&T Unlimited Choice and similar plans will now encompass 75GB of high-speed data along with 30GB of hotspot data. More premium plans, such as AT&T Unlimited Plus, will now include 100GB of high-speed data and 60GB of hotspot data.

Customers might find better rates by switching to AT&T’s current unlimited plans, which range from $66 to $86 for a single line, excluding taxes and fees, according to the company’s current offerings.

It’s worth noting that these adjustments by AT&T follow a similar move by T-Mobile, though, unlike T-Mobile, AT&T never guaranteed that it would not raise prices on these plans.
