US Justice Department Undecided on Boeing 737 Max Criminal Charges Amid Ongoing Review

The US Justice Department has yet to reach a decision on whether it will pursue criminal charges against Boeing Co., as communicated to attorneys representing families of victims from the two fatal 737 Max crashes. This update comes after the department concluded last month that the aerospace manufacturer had violated a 2021 agreement. According to an email from DOJ Fraud Section Chief Glenn Leon, sent Friday, “The Department has not made a decision on how to proceed or whether to pursue prosecution of Boeing.”

This statement is part of an ongoing communication between the DOJ and the victims’ families as the department examines its options. Leon assured that the DOJ would continue to keep the families and their legal representatives informed of any significant developments in the case.
