LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, a giant in the luxury goods market, will have to wait to receive nearly $490,000 awarded to it in a previous arbitration dispute with a former in-house attorney. The delay comes following a ruling by New York Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Schecter, who put the award on hold pending the outcome of another arbitration proceeding.
Andowah Newton, who served as LVMH’s vice president of legal affairs and litigation from 2015 to 2023, has initiated a separate arbitration process accusing the company and another employee of serious allegations, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, and retaliation. “I know as between these two parties, they have a very big issue still outstanding,” remarked Justice Schecter.
