Skillz Sues Mobile Gaming Firm Voodoo SAS Over Alleged Fraud and Game Rigging

Esports company Skillz Platform has initiated legal proceedings against mobile gaming company Voodoo SAS, operator of the “Blitz Win Cash” app, for alleged fraudulent practices including fixing games and deceiving players through the use of bots. The complaint, lodged by King & Spalding in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, claims that Voodoo, along with co-defendants Esport Newco SAS and Esport Newco US Corp., violated New York General Business Law and the Lanham Act. The suit alleges that the defendants falsely marketed their gaming applications as “fair” and “skills-based,” despite employing an algorithm to manipulate tournament outcomes. Skillz is pursuing damages, compensation for lost revenue, and permanent injunctive relief.
