American Arbitration Association Introduces APIs to Enhance Case Management, Partners with LexPipe for Support

AAA API Launch

The American Arbitration Association (AAA) has announced the release of a series of application programming interfaces (APIs) aimed at refining case administration for parties handling multiple arbitration cases. The new APIs will facilitate the sending and receiving of documents, filing of new cases, and tracking of case-related activities.

In response to potential hurdles that some firms might face due to inadequate technological infrastructure, the AAA has entered into a partnership with LexPipe, a nascent legal tech company established by Michael Sander. LexPipe offers third-party services for API installation and training, ensuring accessibility for all firms.

This initiative builds on an earlier API developed specifically for mass-arbitration advocates, enabling direct filing of case documents and the reception of updates. The latest announcement extends this capability to all parties involved in multiple cases. For more on AAA’s tech-driven initiatives, see this interview with AAA’s CEO and CIO.

Among the newly launched APIs are one for panelist appointment data, which provides specifics on panelists and their appointment dates, and another for case status changes, offering real-time update notifications. Diana Didia, AAA’s Senior VP and Chief Information and Innovation Officer, emphasized that these APIs were developed in response to customer feedback, highlighting the customer-driven nature of these innovations.

Michael Sander, who recently established LexPipe after departing from vLex in November, brings significant experience from his previous venture, Docket Alarm, which was acquired by Fastcase in 2018 and later became part of the merger between vLex and Fastcase in April 2023. LexPipe’s upcoming product, according to its website, will offer AI-driven pricing insights for law firms and in-house counsel, further signaling Sander’s commitment to technological innovation in the legal field.
