Amid positive developments in New York’s cannabis industry, concerns remain regarding the increasing number of lawsuits facing state regulators. A prominent litigator on the state’s cannabis board has highlighted potential challenges, noting the risk of having to defend against a significant volume of legal actions. Recent data shows the Office of Cannabis Management has been named as a defendant in at least 15 court cases since January. This comes despite encouraging enforcement efforts which have seen 164 illegal cannabis stores shut down and nearly $30 million in contraband products seized across the state.
