Diversity in Florida’s Largest Law Firms Inches Up, But Leadership Representation Stalls

Florida’s largest law firms have reported a modest increase of 1.5% in racially and ethnically diverse lawyer head counts. However, the movement towards diversity at the partner and executive committee levels remains stagnant. A notable observation is that over half of the firms providing data noted a decline in the number of diverse equity partners. Despite this, three firms, including Shutts & Bowen, have increased diversity on their executive committees. In particular, Shutts & Bowen has outpaced other firms in this aspect. Additionally, Carlton Fields and Shutts & Bowen stand out with more than one-quarter of their executive committee seats being filled by diverse attorneys.
