Willkie Farr & Gallagher’s Decade of Transformation: A 10-Year Strategic Surge in Revenue and Growth

About 10 years ago, Willkie Farr & Gallagher was a smaller entity within the Am Law 100 with $640 million in revenue and approximately 550 attorneys. Fast forward to today, the New York-based law firm has seen tremendous growth, generating around $1.5 billion in revenue and doubling its headcount to about 1,120 lawyers across numerous offices. The firm’s 2023 performance significantly outpaced the Am Law 100 average in several key metrics, including revenue, head count, revenue per lawyer, profits per equity partner, and net income. Willkie has climbed to No. 30 in the Am Law 100 ranking, up from No. 55 in 2015.

The firm’s leadership attributes this rapid growth to a strategic expansion plan enacted a decade ago, targeting specific markets, practice areas, and large lateral groups. For instance, the firm’s London office now houses 131 attorneys, including 38 partners.
