Fried Frank Bolsters Private Equity Funds Group with Goodwin Procter LLP Partner Addition

Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP has announced the addition of Amy Johnson from Goodwin Procter LLP to their private equity funds group and asset management practice in New York. Johnson, who has a solid background in advising on the formation, operation, and maintenance of private investment funds, joined Goodwin in 2018 and became a partner in 2022.

Johnson was involved in significant transactions while at Goodwin, including advising Dawson Partners on the closing of a $425 million transaction with Churchill Asset Management and a transaction exceeding $900 million with a large US-based asset manager. Her experience enhances Fried Frank’s global platform, according to Kenneth Rosh, the new chair in the US at Fried Frank.

Fried Frank is actively growing its core practices, such as asset management, M&A, and real estate, and is building its expertise in finance, capital markets, litigation, and white collar criminal defense. Recent notable hires from Goodwin include investment funds partner Audra Cohen in New York and a three-partner private equity team in London, alongside the addition of Monica Thurmond from Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison LLP.

The firm’s private equity funds and asset management groups, which count among their clients major players like Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, and Bain Capital, are spearheaded by Lawrence Barshay and Kenneth Rosh, with Kate Downey leading the European private equity efforts.
