The first six months of 2024 witnessed increased activity in partner hiring at leading London law firms, marking the busiest first half for lateral movements in five years. Between January and June, there were 100 lateral partner moves at Am Law 50 and Magic Circle firms, compared to 94 in the same period of 2023. According to data from transatlantic recruitment firm Macrae, hiring in the finance sector saw a notable rise during this period, while private equity experienced a decrease in moves.
