Polsinelli Expands to Philadelphia, Adds Over 20 Holland & Knight Partners

Polsinelli is set to make a significant move in the legal industry with the opening of a Philadelphia office, following the hiring of over 20 partners from Holland & Knight. This development marks an important expansion for Polsinelli, as it continues to establish itself as one of the largest full-service US-only firms. “Philadelphia was a missing piece in our platform,” said Chase Simmons, Polsinelli’s chairman and chief executive, in a statement.

Philadelphia’s burgeoning life sciences and biotech sector has attracted numerous law firms, making it a highly sought-after location. This trend was earlier evidenced by Goodwin Procter’s establishment of an office in the city in January 2023, with a team of 14 partners from Troutman Pepper Hamilton & Sanders. Polsinelli’s new cohort of partners is well-versed in sectors such as life sciences, health care, energy, and financial services, areas which align well with the firm’s strategic objectives.

Simmons noted, “Their practices will complement Polsinelli’s other practices, including employee benefits and executive compensation, employee stock option plans, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and labor and employment.” He added that the new team represents the firm’s strongest market entrance to date. The Philadelphia office will be Polsinelli’s 24th location in the US. However, the firm has not yet disclosed the names of the new partners joining their ranks.
