Former Foley Hoag IT Technician Files Collective Action Over Wage Violations and Discrimination

A former IT support technician with Foley Hoag LLP has initiated a collective action against the law firm, alleging serious wage and hour law violations. Gregory Modny, who was employed by Foley Hoag in New York City from July 2022 through June 2024, claims the firm failed to provide him and his colleagues with fair wages and overtime pay, improperly deducted wages for meal breaks, and did not make timely payments. These actions were purportedly in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Modny’s case, filed in federal court, includes collective action FLSA wage and retaliation claims against both the firm and individual defendants. He asserts that he is owed more than $49,000 by the law firm. In addition to wage and hour claims, Modny brings forth allegations of bias and disability discrimination.

This case is a noteworthy example of ongoing issues in the employment practices of major law firms and the broader legal industry. For more detailed information on the background and developments of this case, you can read the full article here.
