Jackson Lewis Attorneys Represent U.S. Chess in Federal Court Over Whistleblower Allegations

Jackson Lewis attorneys have entered an appearance in a whistleblower lawsuit against U.S. Chess initiated by Jennifer Shahade, a two-time national women’s chess champion. The legal team, led by Joseph C. DeBlasio, a principal and office litigation manager of Jackson Lewis’ Monmouth County, New Jersey, office, has also requested that the case be moved from New Jersey state court to federal court.

The six-count complaint, filed in Monmouth County Superior Court on July 16, alleges mishandling of assault claims by U.S. Chess and its president, Randy Bauer. Shahade commented on social media that U.S. Chess “has thus far ignored my lawyers follow-ups on their own mediation offer” and anticipates that the organization will seek to move the case to a jurisdiction more favorable to the defendants.
