Fox Rothschild has filed a fraud suit in North Carolina state court, alleging that several shell companies spoofed a digital banking platform to wire nearly $6 million into accounts with Truist Financial. The suit, filed on behalf of a family-owned jewelry company, Le Vian Corp, claims that fraudulent transactions were carried out from Le Vian’s accounts to fake beneficiaries with Truist bank accounts.
According to the complaint, Truist has returned nearly $400,000 in stolen funds, though approximately $1.6 million remains fraudulently held in the accounts. The ongoing recovery efforts highlight the challenges corporations face in safeguarding against advanced digital banking fraud.
