In its latest report released this morning, Cornerstone Research indicates that total class action securities filings for the first half of 2024 are closely aligned with those of the previous year. The report documents 112 new filings in the first half of 2024, marginally higher than the 103 in the second half of 2023, and similar to the 113 from the same period last year.
The category of “core” filings, which excludes suits solely seeking additional disclosures in proposed mergers and acquisitions, also saw a slight increase from 109 to 110 year-over-year. These observations fall within a consistent pattern, reflective of a steady pace when compared to numbers from the second half of 2023, where 101 such suits were noted.
