Davis Polk Expands London Office with High-Profile Private Equity Partner Gordon Milne

Davis Polk & Wardwell is strengthening its London office by hiring Gordon Milne, a seasoned private equity partner from Allen & Overy Shearman. Milne, who has over two decades of experience with Allen & Overy before its merger with Shearman & Sterling in May, will join Davis Polk’s corporate practice, enhancing its private equity capabilities.

“Gordon is highly respected in the market and represents an important step in the execution of our strategy to build out our UK private equity capabilities,” said Neil Barr, managing partner of Davis Polk, in a statement on Tuesday. The move aligns with Davis Polk’s objective to expand its London office, an area identified as ripe for growth by the firm.

This isn’t the firm’s first strategic hire in London this year. Earlier, it brought on Luke McDougall, the former co-head of Paul Hastings’ global finance team this year. Milne, who advises on cross-border M&A and corporate finance transactions, including carve-outs and public-to-private takeovers, aims to further develop Davis Polk’s private equity platform in the UK.
