Google LLC and YouTube LLC are facing a patent infringement lawsuit over allegations that their video features, YouTube Clips and YouTube Shorts, use technologies owned by ART Research and Technology LLC without authorization. The patent portfolio in question covers vital aspects of video clipping and stitching, technologies crucial for creating short video segments. The lawsuit was filed on August 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, where ART claims that Google’s operations involving these video features violate its intellectual property rights.
ART Research and Technology LLC, a developer of computer software aimed at displaying and receiving digital media, contends that the unauthorized use of its technologies extends to the marketing, testing, importation, and hosting of these video features. ART is seeking all available remedies to redress this alleged infringement.
