Big Tech Faces Legal Battle Over Alleged Privacy Violations in California Wiretapping Lawsuit

In a significant development for the ongoing privacy class action, the prominent law firms Willkie Farr & Gallagher and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher have entered appearances to represent major Silicon Valley companies. The class action, originally filed by plaintiffs through Bursor & Fisher, is based on alleged violations of California’s wiretapping and eavesdropping laws. The plaintiffs claim that Alo, a wellness company known for its workout apparel and fitness course subscriptions, unlawfully shared consumers’ confidential information with “third-party” defendants including Google, Meta, Snap, Microsoft, and Heap.

The initial complaint, Garcia v. Alo, was filed on June 28 in the California Northern District Court. An amended complaint adding Big Tech giants as co-defendants followed shortly after on July 12. For more detail on this case, visit the original article.
