Trusts created for persons from Bikini Atoll, the Pacific island used as a nuclear test site in the 1940s, have been significantly depleted, according to a lawsuit filed in Delaware Chancery Court. The complaint alleges Arden Trust Company’s management practices led to a drastic reduction in the market value of the trusts, from $60 million and $59.1 million in 2018 to just $89,002 and $28.7 million, respectively, by 2023. The management of the trusts was transferred to successor Comerica this year. The plaintiffs claim these losses occurred despite strict regulations on disbursements.
