Former Congressman George Santos is appealing comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s recent victory in a copyright lawsuit regarding the use of Cameo videos on the late-night show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Santos initially filed the lawsuit in February, alleging that Kimmel, along with American Broadcasting Cos. Inc. and its owner The Walt Disney Co., had fraudulently induced him to create the videos. Kimmel subsequently used these videos on his show, which Santos argues was outside the intended purpose of the Cameo service.
On Monday, a federal judge granted Kimmel’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Judge Denise Cote of the US District Court found that Kimmel had successfully demonstrated fair use.
